Johnson, Nola (11 SEP 1938)
A high noon ceremony solemnized in the United Lutheran Church at Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) Sunday united in marriage Miss Nola Johnson, Withee (Clark Co.), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P.C. Johnson, Greenwood, and George Kuehl, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kuehl, Withee. The Rev. A.E. Norson officiating.
Wine colored transparent velvet, in floor length, was worn by the bride, who completed here ensemble with matching sandals, turban, and veil. She carried a bouquet of talisman roses and white chrysanthemums.
As the familiar strains of the "Bridal Chorus" from Lohengrin were played by Mrs. A.E. Norson, the bride approached the flower banked altar on the arm of her father. Mrs. Harry Thorson, Withee, sang, "I Love You Truly," and as the recenssional sang the selection, "Crown With Thy Benediction."
Miss Erna Vangsnes, niece of the bride, attended as bridesmaid, wearing a gown of royal blue transparent velvet with matching sandals and turban. Her bouquet was similar to the bride’s.
Charles Kuehl was his brother’s best man. Both wore dark blue suits with boutonnieres of mixed flowers.
Thirty relatives were entertained at a reception and wedding dinner after the ceremony at the home of the bride’s brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Johnson, at Greenwood. A lovely wedding cake, baked by the bride’s sister, Mrs. Morris Anderson, Stevens Point, adorned the center of the table.
Out of town relatives present included, Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Mattson, La Crosse; Mrs. Augusta Mattson, Whitehall; Mr. and Mrs. Newland Twesme, Ettrick; Mr. and Mrs. William Walch and daughter, Mrs. Morris Anderson and sons, Ralph and Morris, and daughters, Dorothy and Coramae, all of Stevens Point; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kuehl and Mr. and Mrs. Mahlstad, Withee.
Mr. Kuehl and his bride will make their home at Withee, where he owns and operates a store. Mrs. Kuehl is a graduate of the Greenwood High School with the class of 1931 and was also graduated from the Central State Teachers College at Stevens Point. The bridegroom is a graduate of the Withee High School and also attended the University of Wisconsin.
