Wilcox, Bert & Hester (54th - 24 DEC 1939)
The 54th anniversary of their wedding was celebrated by Mr. and Mrs. Bert Wilcox of this city (Greenwood, Clark Co., Wis.) last Sunday, when they were guests of honor at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wilcox of Avoca. They made the trip to Avoca Saturday with another son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Waite Wilcox, Marshfield.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilcox have been residents of Greenwood since 1917, when they came here from the Town of Hendren (Clark Co.). They arrived in Clark County from Woodstock, Ill., in 1911, and spent the next six years farming near Tioga. Mr. Wilcox was assessor of the Town of Hendren at one time.
Born in McHenry County, Ill., on March 4, 1867, he married Miss Hesper Bigelow, also a native of McHenry County, at Woodstock on Dec. 24, 1885. Mrs. Wilcox was born on Oct. 28, 1866.
Their eight children are Mrs. Emil (Maude) Siemer, Elgin, Ill.; Clarence, Avoca; Waite, Marshfield; James, Little Valley, N.Y.; Mrs. Forest (Pearl) Chadwick, Randolph, N.Y.; Clark, Basco; Mrs. Floyd (Helen) Christie, Glen Flora; Homer, Cattaraugus, N.Y. Mr. and Mrs. Wilcox also have 32 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. All of the children were present at the reunion held on the occasion of their parents’ golden wedding four years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Wilcox returned to Greenwood from Avoca on Tuesday.
