Wells, Adella (1 JUN 1940)
Miss Adella Wells and Norbert Friske, both of Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), exchanged marriage vows during a 2 o’clock service read Saturday, June 1, 1940, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal, by the Rev. J.C. Langholz.
Miss Wells, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adelbert Wells, Greenwood, wore a white net dress over satin, fashioned with insets of lace and a long train. She wore a necklace of pearls and carried a bouquet of lilies of the valley and roses. Her four-yard long veil was held in place with a coronet headdress of lies of the valley.
Miss Marguerite Wells, sister of the bride, attended as maid of honor, wearing a pink net dress over pink satin, designed bouffant syle. She wore a pink shoulder-length veil and a corsage of gardenias.
Also attending the bride were Misses Bernice and Florence Friske, sisters of the groom. They wore gowns of marquisette of peach and blue, respectively, embroidered with flowers. Both wore matching shoulder-length veils and corsages of gladiolas and lilies of the valley.
The groom, son of Mrs. Otto Friske, Greenwood, was attended by Donald Wells, the bride’s brother, as best man and Hershel Edwards, Mellen, as groomsman. Ushers included Verland Dux, Loyal, and Jack Prestin, Milwaukee. The men wore dark suits and boutonnieres of white carnations.
During the ceremony "I Love You Truly," and "Because," were sung by Mrs. W.R. Haire, Owen, Wis.
A dinner was served to approximately 50 guests at the home of the bride’s parents. Pink, blue and white shades were used for the color scheme and large baskets of mixed flowers completed the decorations. A three-tiered wedding cake with white icing and pink roses, topped by a miniature bride and groom, was used as the centerpiece for the dining table. In the evening a wedding dance was held at Merry Ol’ Gardens, Longwood.
Those present at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Rear and family, and Mrs. Minnie Prestin, Milwaukee; William Drews, Howard Drews, and Mrs. Carl Schindler, Wilton; Miss Ann Drews and Emil Drews, Rochester, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Sam Ziemer and son, Norman, Galesville.
William Dux, Arthur Dux, Mrs. Anna Dux, Mr. and Mrs. Milo Brown and family, and Miss Dorothy Lenzkow, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Dux and Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Haire, Owen; the Rev. and Mrs. J.C. Langholz and Verland Dux, Loyal; Hershel Edwards, Mellen; and Miss Bernice Friske, Mosinee.
The bride attended Greenwood High School and was graduated with the class of 1936. The couple are now at home to friends on the groom’s farm, near Greenwood.
