Zank, Daniel R. (7 SEP 1969 - 24 OCT 2006)
Daniel R. "Danny Z" Zank, 37, whose roots are from the Granton and Neillsville area, was tragically taken from his family and friends abruptly on the morning of Oct. 24, 2006 at his residence in Coon Rapids, Minn., Anoka County.
Memorials services will be held both in Minnesota and Wisconsin. In Minnesota, the service will be held at the Salvation Army Harvest Corps Church, 10347 Ibis St. N. W., Coon Rapids, on Nov. 4, at 2 p.m. The memorial service in Wisconsin will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Nov. 11, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 5th and Clay streets, Neillsville, Wis. Visitation will be from 1:30-1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Armando Camacho and Paul Oliver officiating. Honorary pall bearers will be John (Johnny Rock) Bray, David Hainz, Roger Jelnick, Gary Gutenburger, Bill Short, Steven Sischo, Dario Seixas and Nik Edmonds.
Daniel R. Zank was born Sept. 7, 1969, at Ramsey Hospital, St. Paul, Minn., Ramsey County, to Laura Lee L. "Dusty" (nee Handke) Zank and Robert D. Zank. He graduated from Neillsville High School, where he already had started singing his way into people’s hearts. He was in the Army National Guard and on completing his service to his country moved to Minneapolis, where he owned and worked at cell phone stores and he sang in various bands, the last "Jet City" He wrote and performed his own music along with all other music. He loved and was loved and respected by all his family and friends. He adored kids and animals, especially cats and the Green Bay Packers. He was a very passionate, caring, sensitive, tender-hearted man who had a deep faith in God and family and his passion for music. He had the most beautiful singing voice that once you heard him sing you fell in love with him. We have truly lost one of God’s gifts to all his family and friends.
Survivors include his mother, Laura Lee L. (Handke) Zank, Granton; his father, Robert D. Zank, Amery. His sister, Michelle L. Zank-Podrovitz, and her husband, Duane Podrovitz, both of Neillsville; his nephew Zachary A. Zank, Neillsville; his grandfather, Walter Zank, Neillsville; his aunt, Cheryl Lee Handke, Granton; his aunt Barbara Shaw, Neillsville; and many uncles, aunts and cousins in Wisconsin and Colorado.
Preceding him in death were his grandfather, Elmer Fred Charles Handke; his grandmother, Louise Handke-Sternitzky; and his grandmother, Frieda Alma Zank.
He will be very greatly missed. Condolences may be sent to his mother.
