Dwyer, Jane (4 June 1860 - 27 Jan. 1940)
Mrs. Jane Parrett Dwyer, 79, a pioneer resident of this community, passed away at her home on North Hewett Street at 4:50 p.m. Saturday after a year’s illness with a liver ailment.
Mrs. Dwyer was born at Dundee, Wis., June 4, 1860, to Lewis and Maria Parrett. In 1870 she came to Clark County with her parents, the family settling on a farm in the town of York. She grew to womanhood there and on July 4, 1882, she was married to John Dwyer, also a resident of that township, the marriage being performed by Rev. W. T. Hendren. They lived on a farm for 18 years. Mr. and Mrs. Dwyer were the parents of two children: John Merrill, who died at Brownsville, Texas, in 1933, and Jessie, Mrs. Ernst Snyder, Neillsville, Wis. Mr. Dwyer passed away in 1926.
In 1900, they sold the farm and came to Neillsville to reside, purchasing the property of North Hewett Street, which had since been Mrs. Dwyer’s home.
She was a quiet, home-loving woman, her calm, lovable nature remaining unchanged throughout her long illness. She was affectionately spoken by old and young, among her friends, as "Aunt Janie." Her ability as a homemaker and her love for the beautiful was at all times discernable in her home and in the trim lawn and garden.
Surviving are the daughter, and four grandchildren of Los Angeles, Calif. The departed was preceded in death by her husband and son and by three brothers and a sister, the latter passing away but five weeks ago.
Funeral services were held the Schiller Funeral Home Tuesday at two p.m., Rev. G. W. Longenecker being the officiating clergyman. A trio, consisting of Mesdames R. P. Munger, A. F. Flynn and John Perkins sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Art Thour Weary?" Mrs. Allen Covell accompanied on the piano. Burial was made in the Neillsville Cemetery. William Ruchaber, Joe Zimmer, Frank Brown, Arthur Flynn, Herbert Brown and David Parry were pallbearers.
Mr. and Mrs. Will Wood of Neopit, Mrs. R. B. Washburn, Augusta, and Mrs. Richard Salter of Colby were here for the rites.
