Northup, Alton Francis (24 Feb. 1900 - 4 Feb. 1940)
Alton Francis Northup passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Chicago, February 4. He had been ill since December 22 with infection following an extraction of his teeth.
Mr. Northup was born in the town of York, February 24, 1900, to Oscar and Nell Northup. He completed the grammar school course at Happy Hollow School in the home district. January 20, 1926, he was married to Miss Anna Krumpeck of the town of Levis. Three sons were born to them: Glen, 12; Russell, 8; and Donald, 3.
In 1927, Mr. and Mrs. Northup went to Chicago where he worked for the International Harvester company for one year. He then began work as a street car conductor, following that line of work until he become ill.
He is survived by his wife and sons, and a sister, Mrs. William Plumer, of the town of York; a brother, Leland, living near Loyal; and a sister, Ruth, Mrs. Charles Hovanec, Chicago; all of whom are present for the funeral which is being held this Thursday afternoon in Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Jason Gault of York also went down for the rites.
