Poppe, Gustavus (1 SEP 1855 - 3 FEB 1940)

Funeral services were conducted at the Griebenow-Weirich Funeral Home in Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) Monday afternoon fro Gustavus Poppe, 84, who died Saturday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Warren Poppe, Marble, Minn. The Rev. W.P.D. Powe, Owen, officiated, and burial took place in the Riverside Cemetery, Withee.

Mr. Poppe, who was born in Germany on Sept. 1, 1855, was brought to Canada at the age of 2 and came to Sheboygan at 19. Later he came to Clark County, where he lived for many years. Mrs. Poppe died in 1927.

Surviving children are Ed and George Poppe, Longwood; Mrs. Louisa Buker, Mead; and Mrs. Warren (Della) Poppe, Marble, Minn. One daughter died in 1929. There are 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three brothers.

Pallbearers at the funeral were Ernest Buss, Otto Sacks, Ed Langfeldt, George Burmeister, George Vollrath, and Carl Buss. Flowers. Were carried by Violet Horn, Della Poppe, Vivian Langfeldt, Bonnie Norris, and Pearl Hodnut.
