Rhead, Flora Mae (6 Dec. 1888 - 7 March 1940)

Mrs. William Rhead, formerly of Neillsville, passed away suddenly during the early hours of Thursday morning, March 7, at the Black River Falls hospital, aged 51 years, three months and one day. The cause of her death was a heart attack following an operation.

Mrs. Rhead, whose maiden name was Flora Mae Endicott, was born in Crawford County December 6, 1888. She was united in marriage to William Rhead April 5, 1905. She was the mother of eleven children: Elsie, Mrs. Kenneth Metcalf, and Alice, Mrs. Thomas Krejci, both of the town of York; Oakley, Elwin and Frank, La Crosse; Nora, Mrs. Dale Colwell, Taylor; John, Opal and Richard at home; Myrtle, who is in the Black River Falls hospital, recovering from an operation; the youngest child, Billy Don, died at the age of six months. She is also survived by her husband, nine grandchildren, two brothers, and four sisters.

Brief services were held at the funeral home Sunday, March 10, followed by services at the Presbyterian Church in Hixton. Interment was made in the Alma Center Cemetery.

Four sons and two nephews acted as pallbearers, namely: Oakly, Elwin, Frank and John Rhead, Basil Burnett and Hugh Rhead.
