Braun, Maria (28 FEB 1863 - 3 MAY 1943)
Mrs. Maria Braun, 80, who had been a patient at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, since fracturing her hip Feb. 17, died there at 1 o’clock yesterday afternoon.
Mrs. Braun, nee Maria Wilck, was born in Reduauhn, Germany, Feb. 28, 1863, and was married to Frederick Braun at Sheboygan June 3, 1886. A year after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Braun came to Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) to live on a farm 10 miles northwest of the village.
In 1918 the Brauns retired from farming and moved to the city of Greenwood, where Mr. Braun died March 9, 1939, and since that time Mrs. Braun lived with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Liebzeit, 6 miles northwest of Greenwood. The Brauns observed their 50th wedding anniversary in 1936.
Mrs. Braun, a member of Zion Reformed Church, Greenwood, and its Ladies Aid Society, is survived by two sons, George and Theodore, both of Greenwood, and two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Clara) Liebzeit, and Mrs. Emil (Marianne) Noah, also of Greenwood; a brother, Theodore Wilck, Ione, Wash.; a sister, Mrs. Minna Schomberg, Sheboygan Falls; 22 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Three children, Harry, Adella, and Ernest, died in infancy.
