Howard, Mr./Mrs. George (55 - 5 May 1940)

The fifty-fifth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. George Howard was observed by their children and families Sunday, May 5, when the group met at their home in the town of Grant for dinner and the afternoon.

The five children of Mr. and Mrs. Howard: Mrs. Ethel Geisler, Neillsville; Archie Howard, Wood County; Mrs. Gertrude Martin, at home; Vern and Alva Howard, of the town of Grant were present for the celebration together with ten of the fourteen grandchildren and six of the twelve great-grandchildren.

When Mr. and Mrs. Howard sold the home farm to their son, Vern, they moved into a house not farm from the old place, preferring to remain within sight of familiar surroundings, where Mr. Howard was born and where the third generation of Howards is now being reared, and where the golden wedding of the couple was celebrated five years ago with a gathering of about 200 relatives, neighbors and friends.
