Thomas, Helen L. (8 JUN 1946)
The Rev. Myron E. Taylor of Grace Methodist Church, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), officiated at the nuptial rites during which Miss Helen Loraine Thomas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. Thomas, Greenwood, and Lester William Severson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vern Severson, also of Greenwood, exchanged vows. The service took place at Grace Church Saturday, June 8, 1946, at 2 p.m. The bride was given in marriage by her father.
Miss Lenore Heilman, a schoolmate of the bride, sang "O Promise Me" and "I Live Your Truly," accompanied by Mrs. John Meng at the piano. Mrs. Meng also played the wedding march. Bouquets of spring flowers and roses decorated the church.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Thomas, brother and sister-in-law of the bride and brother-in-law and sister of the groom, served as matron of honor and best man, respectively. Karen Kay Lindgren and Delores Olson, nieces of the bride and groom, carried the bride’s veil.
For her wedding the bride wore a floor length white satin gown. Her long silk veil of illusion edged with lace was attached to a tiara of seed pearls. Red roses formed her bouquet.
The matron of honor wore net over blue silk and had a corsage of roses. The little girls had floor length frocks of white dotted swiss.
The bride’s home was decorated with pink and white crepe paper streamers for the wedding dinner at the home of the bride’s parents, where 45 guests were served. Mrs. Art Buker furnished the decorated wedding cake.
A reception was held at the home of the groom’s parents, the occasion also being their 25th wedding anniversary. After a week’s wedding trip to Northern Wisconsin, Mr. and Mrs. Severson will live on a farm on route 4, Greenwood.
Mrs. Severson was co-valedictorian of the 1946 graduating class of Greenwood High School. Her husband served in the Navy and was discharged in January.
Guests were Mrs. Chan Newlun and son, Hallie, LaFarge; William Newlun and Mrs. Douglas Muller and son of Ontario; Viola Stabnow and Mrs. Lorence Jandi, Mellen; and Mr. and Mrs. Vaner Lindgren and family, Owen, Wis.
