Abram Butler Passes Away At Home Tuesday

Abraham Butler, aged 76 years, passed away at his home near Colby, Tuesday morning, the result of a heart attack.

Funeral services were conducted this Thursday morning at St. Mary’s Catholic church in Colby, the Rev. L. J. Lang officiating. Interment was made in the parish cemetery.

Mr. Butler was born April 24, 1863 at Fond du Lac and came with his parents when he was 13 years old to Unity where they operated a sawmill.

On Sept. 9,1891 he was married at St. Kilian’s Catholic church at Colby to Josephine Hertel, who preceded him in death in May 1916. After his marriage he operated a sawmill in Arpin and Marshfield. Following the death of his wife he moved to a farm near Unity and in 1919 went to a farm west of Colby.

After his marriage to Mrs. Louise Mueller July 3,1922 the Butlers lived at Colby.

Surviving besides his wife is a son, Earl, of Colby. His daughter, Mrs. Ruth Hein , died in 1941. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Ida Schelley of Fond du Lac and Mrs. Florence Klech of South Milwaukee, one brother, Eli, of Fond du Lac, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Note - Ida Schelley’s correct spelling of her last name was Shelley. She was the widow of David Shelley, my great uncle.
