The Rt. Rev. Msgr. L.V. Barnes, Augusta, Ga., uncle of the bride, officiated at the marriage of Miss Marian Elizabeth Barnes to Irven Carl Hoesly, Sept. 4, 1948, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.). The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. R.L. Barnes, Greenwood, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Baltz Hoesly, Granton.
Mrs. Donald Degenhardt, Chicago, sister of the groom, was maid of honor, and bridesmaids were Miss Joan Barnes, Greenwood, sister of the bride, and Miss Agnes Koller, Marshfield. Donald Degenhardt, Chicago, acted as best man. Ushers were Kenneth Degenhardt, Loyal and Cecil Kenslow, Neillsville, Wis. The ushers also acted as groomsmen.
The bride was gowned in white satin styled with a bustle back and train. She wore a short veil and an orchid.
Light green marquisette fashioned with a hoop skirt was the maid of honor’s costumed. Bridesmaids were dressed in lavender net and yellow marquisette, respectively. The gowns were fashioned with hoop skirts. They carried cascade bouquets of yellow roses and white mums.
Breakfast was served at the bride’s home and dinner at the church. In the afternoon a reception was held at the bride’s home.
Mrs. Hoesly is a graduate of the St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, Marshfield. Mr. Hoesly is a student at Eau Claire State Teachers College. For the past one and one-half years the bride has been a registered nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Upon return from a weeding trip in northern and eastern Wisconsin, the couple will be at home at 1009 S. Farwell St., Eau Claire.
