Merlin Schjoneman
Merlin Schjoneman, 88, Colby, died Friday, December 8, 2006 at his home.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 16, 2oo6, at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby.
Interment will be in the Town of Brighton Cemetery with full military rites by the Colby VFW Post 2227. Reverend Mark Neumann will preside.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given for cancer research or to hospice.
Merlin was born December 7, 1918, in the Town of Brighton, Marathon County, to Mogan and Kate (Ayre) Schjoneman.
He served his country during WW2 in Germany.
Merlin married Dorothy Sabler March 1, 1938, in Marshfield. She died September 27, 2004.
Merlin and Les Bowen introduced Ski Doo snowmobiles to the central Wisconsin area. He owned and operated Schjoneman Trucking in Colby for many years.
He enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing. Merlin also traveled all 50 states, all the provinces of Canada and five foreign countries.
He was affiliated with Zion Lutheran Church, a member of Colby VFW Post 2227, Colby American Legion and the Owen Masonic Lodge #317.
Merlin is survived by his children, Allen (Gloria) Schjoneman of Holcombe, Mar (Barbara) Schjoneman of Colby, Kirk (Marilyn) Schjoneman of Denmark, Karen Schjoneman of Colby and Margo (Richard) Seefluth of Fond du Lac; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, one daughter, Janice Lee; two brothers and one sister.
