There is some talk of locating a toothpick factory at this place, that we hope will not end in talk. Such an institution would pay a good interest on money invested, an would by the means of bringing other manufactories. It would not require a very large capitol to establish a toothpick factory, and it would be much better to begin a the bottom of the ladder and work to the top by degrees than to begin at the top and go to the bottom with a rush.
M. Danks, while hunting near Cadott, shot and killed a young elk that was as white as snow. He has the skin properly dressed and will have it mounted. The animal was as large as a full grown deer, but was evidently quite young, as the teeth were not fully developed and the hoofs were quite soft. It is quite a curiosity.
The Thorp Leader has given up the ghost. On Tuesday the material was packed up and loaded on the cars bound for Stevens Point, where it will be again set up and a paper published in the interest of the South side of that city.
Mrs. Una Sears and Miss S. Schoenemann have opened a dress making establishment in the village occupying the rooms in the rear of Henry Welch’s store, where they will be please to meet ladies desiring their services at any time.
