November 9, 1944: MOTION PICTURES FOR SCHOOLS

A motion picture projector in every school, providing a practical means for impressing classroom lessons a vividly upon school youth as the entertainment film does upon the general public, is a Wisconsin educational aim.

Dr. L. H. Adolpson, associate director of the University Extension division, has announced that Dr. Walter A. Wittich, acting director of the Bureau of Visual Instruction, will, upon request, visit Wisconsin school systems to demonstrate teaching techniques with films on the elementary, junior and senior high school levels, and to illustrate how educational films further retention, establish readiness and speed the classroom teaching process.

The bureau offers also to help solve problems of curriculum coordination in the use for daily classroom needs.

Motion picture equipment of the 16 millimeter type, suitable for schools, now is more easily obtainable, it was pointed out. Projectors can be secured within about 60 days; prices have greatly declined, with the average projector costing about $375; while approved teaching films are obtainable from the state bureau at nominal rental fees.
