BUDGET ADOPTED FOR COUNTIES AND VILLAGES
Marathon County Board of Supervisors approved a 1945 budget which calls for a tax levy of $612,297 on all Marathon County property. The total levy was $5,594 more than the 1944 budget by an increased valuation of the county of $7,000,000 will permit a county levy of $5.67 per $1,00 in comparison of last year’s rate of $5.98.
The board also voted to earmark $1000,000 in surplus country funds for the postwar construction a 28 bed modern isolation hospital for communicable and infectious diseases as an annex to St. Mary’s Hospital, Wausau.
At the Abbotsford village board meeting the proposed budget of $17,000 was adopted, $8,000 of which will be raised by taxes.
The tax rate for the village of Abbotsford has not been set.
