Macknick, Christine (12 JAN 1882 - 20 FEB 1947)

Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) - A Requiem High Mass was read Saturday morning, Feb. 22, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood, for Mrs. Christine Macknick, 65, who died Feb. 20, 1947 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Syth, Globe. The Rev. J.J. Novak was in charge of the rites and burial was made in the parish cemetery. She had been in poor health for several years.

Six grandsons, Arthur and Harold Murphy, and Donald, Leslie, Allen, and Hallie Syth, served as pallbearers. Those from away who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Macknick, Belleville; Mrs. Joseph Larke and daughter, Isabel, Duluth, Minn.; Mrs. Jake Matchey and Mr. and Mrs. John Matchey, Independence; and Lee Hanutke and daughter, City Point.

Mrs. Macknick, nee Dalkie, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Dalkie, was born in Fairchild Jan. 12, 1882, and was married there at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in 1898 to Oscar Macknick, who died in 1928.

Surviving are two sons, Lloyd of Willard and Ralph of Belleville; two daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Sue) Syth, Globe, and Mrs. Frank (Lucille) Murphy, Greenwood; 15 grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. Mary Nachtey, Independence; Mrs. Joseph Larke, Duluth, Minn., and Mrs. Lena Orlowski and Mrs. Josephine Orlowski, Milwaukee.

Her parents, husband, one son, two sisters and a brother preceded her in death.
