Bayuk, John (15 AUG 1875 - 12 APR 1946)

Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) - Funeral services for John Bayuk, 70, Willard, who died at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, April 12, 1946, were held April 15 at the Bayuk home and at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard. The Rev. Raphael Stragisher officiated at the 10 a.m. Requiem High Mass, and interment was made in the parish cemetery.

Pallbearers were Paul Oblack Sr., Ludvik Perushek Sr., Anton Trunkel Sr., Anton Debevec Sr., Joseph Bukovec, and Frank Kokaly. The Holy Family Society, of which Mr. Bayuk was a member, attended the funeral in a body, and a rosary was recited at the home April 14.

John Bayuk, son of the late John and Mary Bayuk, was born Aug. 15, 1875, in Podzemeja, Slovenia, Yugoslavia. He came to the United States in 1892, living in Philadelphia for six years. He then went to Pueblo, Colo., and St. Cloud, Minn., living there for another six years. In 1910 he arrived in Willard and settled on a farm. He also engaged in the brewery business and in meat packing.

Mr. Bayuk held the office of town assessor for 17 years, also town treasurer, secretary of the Willard Co-operative Dairy Company, school treasurer, and town supervisor.

Surviving are his wife, five sons, Joseph of Willard, Albert of Joliet, Ill., Edward of Hillsboro, Frank of Colby, and William at home; six daughters, Mrs. Hugo (Genevieve) Quast of Granton, Mrs. Anton (Dorothy) Fortuna of Chicago, Mrs. Ignace (Mayme) Cesnik of Willard, Mrs. Joseph (Gertrude) Godec of Willard, Mrs. Rudolph (Verna) Hollmann of West Allis, and Miss Florence Bayuk of Marshfield; and 18 grandchildren.

Relatives and friends from away who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Matt Bayuk, Marseilles, Ill.; Mrs. Joseph Staley, Moline, Ill.; Mrs. James Justin, Ralph Oman, and Mrs. August Schueneman, Rice, Minn.; Mrs. William Hulls, St. Joseph, Minn.; Miss Dolores Quast, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Quast, Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Anton Fortuna and family, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. William Bayuk, Joliet, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Hollmann, West Allis; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bayuk, Colby; and Miss Florence Bayuk, Marshfield.
