Mrs. Arlie Fritz of Hudson and her mother, Mrs. Clara Winkes, who had been visiting there, came down Friday to attend the funeral of Mrs. Frank Reinhard.
Miss Ill Counsell will teach in the primary department at Hammond, Wis., this year, school opening there next Monday.
Mrs. Carrie McDonough returned Sunday from a vacation spent with her sister, Mrs. August Beorn, in Chicago. She went down with her brother, Henry Roen, wife and son, Vernon, of Rice Lake, last Tuesday morning.
Miss Norma Cohen, Milwaukee, and her brother, Nathan, Reedsburg, arrived here Saturday night to spend the week with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Cohen, and other relatives.
Mrs. Jake Schiller, Miss Mildred Schiller, Mrs. Frances Preston and daughter, Helen, of this city, and Mrs. Thorwald Christofferson and two daughters of Juneau, Wis., spent last week at Silver Lake. Mrs. Christofferson and children came home with her relatives for a visit.
Mr. and Mrs. Rex Parish of Sheboygan arrived Saturday afternoon to spend Sunday at the Dr. H. W. Housley home. His mother, Mrs. Ida Parish, who spent several weeks here, accompanied them home. Miss Edythe Housley went with them to spend a few days at Plymouth.
Dale Fischer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Fischer, Nasonville, underwent a tonsillectomy operation in Neillsville Monday.
Misses Genevieve and Jeannette Zimmer called on Mrs. Donald Speich at Wausau Sunday afternoon, where she was taken about ten days ago by her husband and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thompson, for treatment at the sanitarium.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernst Longenecker and two daughters, who have been living at Winnebago Park, near Fond du Lac this summer, arrived here Saturday afternoon, to spend a day with his parents, Rev. and Mrs. G. W. Longenecker and with his sister, Mrs. Gladys Edwards and children. Mrs. Edwards and family will return home to Wauwatosa this week. She will resume her work as an instructor in the vocational school at Milwaukee next week.
Mrs. Julia Dwyer, Mrs. Robert Kurth, Mrs. Ole Lowe and Miss Clara Drescher spent last Thursday at the Dwyer cottage at Lake Arbutus where they enjoyed a picnic dinner.
Miss Josie Bass drove to Madison last Thursday to bring her sisters, Mrs. Lida Meyer home. Mrs. Meyer having worked there during the summer, Miss Bass will return to her teaching duties at Minneapolis Labor Day.
Miss Beatrice MacMillan and Mesdames W. L. Hemphill, William Ruchaber, Lida Meyer and G. W. Longenecker plan to drive to Plainfield Friday to spend the day with Miss Ellen Hammond.
Mrs. Frank Cutter, daughter, Mary and son, Robert, went to St. Paul last Friday where they met Mr. Cutter, who spent a few days with his father. Mr. Cutter came to Neillsville with his family and Monday they left for their home at Lima, Ohio.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dietsche, Bloomer, and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Dietsche, Colfax, spent Sunday here with the mother of the men, Mrs. Amanda Dietsche at the Foster home.
Fred Favort of Greenwood was a Neillsville business visitor Tuesday morning.
Mr. and Mrs. R. O. Hales of Loyal visited with Mr. and Mrs. Herman Griep Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Horswill and two children of Milwaukee arrived here Saturday morning to spend a week at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Horswill, and to attend the Clark County fair.
Arnold Syth of Greenwood was a Neillsville business visitor Tuesday morning.
Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Quicker and children went to Milwaukee last Thursday to spend several days with relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Smolich were guests of Dr. M. A. and Leo Foster a couple of days the first of the week. Mrs. Smolich is a niece of Dr. Foster. They are on the way to the west coast where they will make their future home.
Miss Leona Marks stopped here Monday to call on friends on her way home to Clintonville after a few days visit at Augusta.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Blakeslce of Minneapolis arrived here Saturday to call on her sister and brother, Miss Minnie and Henry Herian. Sunday they went to Sparta to call on the Dr. Beebe family and then drove on to La Crosse to visit a friend who is very ill, returning to Minneapolis that evening.
Mr. and Mrs. S. G. Patey, son, Dannie, and Miss Mable Patey returned home Sunday from Amery, where they spent several weeks.
Marvin Garbisch son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Garbisch, Granton, had his tonsils removed in Neillsville last Wednesday morning.
Wayne Osterheld of Stoughton arrived here Tuesday to spend several days with her sister, Mrs. Marian Calway.
Miss Genevieve Zimmer, Chicago, who has been acting as camp nurse at Lost Lake camp, Tipler, Wis., and her sister, Mrs. Jeannette, who had charge of the water front in the same camp, returned to Neillsville Sunday after a three week outing. Monday the Misses Zimmer and their mother, Mrs. Emma Zimmer, accompanied Durward Wittkopf to Minneapolis, the young man taking his father, who is on his way home to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to that city. The Zimmer family and Mr. Wittkopf returned to Neillsville that evening, Miss Jeannette leaving Tuesday morning for Galesburg, Ill., to resume her teaching duties.
Dr. M. A. Foster and son, Jack, spent from Friday to Sunday night at the Minnesota State fair.
Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Steuerwald and son returned home to Indianapolis Sunday after spending a week here with his mother, Mrs. Lena Steuerwald, and sister, Mrs. Harley Seif, and family.
P. C. Jennings and L. M. Merriam, representatives of the Production Credit Corporation, St. Paul, spent the past week at the office of Neillsville Production Credit Association, where they made a loan analysis. F. D. Elliott, vice president of the corporation, was here from the city Friday and Saturday.
Edwin Allen came home from the Marshfield hospital Monday where he had been a surgical patient the past week.
Christ Stricker, a former telegraph operator at the Neillsville depot, will be returned to the station here soon. Mr. and Mrs. Stricker and family will again occupy their home on South Court Street. They have been living at Marshfield.
H. G. Kvool went to Rhinelander Saturday morning to join his wife and son who had been visiting there for several days. They returned home Monday.
Rev. and Mrs. Wilson Bixler and son, and Rev. Ben Stucki were at Wausau Sunday afternoon and evening where Rev. Bixler attended a meeting of the Syndical Board of Christian Education. Rev. Stucki showed his pictures of Home Missions of Evangelical and Reformed Churches at the Grace church that evening. Monday evening Rev. and Mrs. Stucki and four of their children went to Black River Falls where Rev. Stucki showed the mission pictures in the Evangelical and Reformed church. A group of the Indians from the old mission near there came to the city to see the pictures.
Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Quicker have purchased the Harry Swanson house at Thirteenth and Emery Sts. They will move into their new home soon.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Keller and son Lee of Alma arrived here Tuesday night to visit relatives and friends in Neillsville and in the town of York and to attend the Clark County fair.
Mrs. Margaret McDermott, who came here three weeks ago on account of the illness and death of her sister, Mrs. Frank Reinhard, was called home to New York City the first of the week by the illness of a relative, Mrs. Henry Dundon, Mr. Reinhard took her to the station at Merrillan Tuesday.
Martin Bohm is taking a vacation from his work as manager of the A & P store this week. Frank Richardson of Wisconsin Rapids is working in his stead this week.
Dr. and Mrs. M. L. Claflin of Barron spent a couple days here the first of the week. Their daughter, Mary Jane, who has been attending Hamlin College at St. Paul will enter the University of Wisconsin as a sophomore this fall.
