A very pretty wedding was solemnized at Davenport, Ia., on Saturday, at which time Miss Ellen Griebenow, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Griebenow of this city (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.) became the bride of Richard Hughes of Earlville, Ill. The services were held at the Sacred Heart Cathedral at 9:00 a.m., Rev. Sprague of Mendota, Ill., performing the ceremony.
The bride was attended by Molly Griebenow, her sister, and the groom by his brother, Wayne. A wedding breakfast was served in the Blackstone Hotel in that city.
The bride wore a gown of white satin and her attendant, Miss Molly, wore a gown of green net over taffeta.
Mrs. Hughes is a graduate of the local high school and of Lawrence College of Appleton. After graduation she accepted a position as English teacher in the public high schools at Oakfield. For the past seven years she has been employed as librarian in the high school at Wheaton, Ill. Mr. Hughes is engaged in the hardware business in Davenport.
Mr. and Mrs. Hughes will be at home to their friends in Davenport at 911 Perry St. The many friends of this young couple wish them a great deal of happiness and success during their wedded life.
