Munson, Edith (23 MAR 1865 - 17 OCT 1936)

Funeral services were held for Mrs Edith Munson, pioneer Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) woman, from her home six miles northwest of Withee, on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 21 at 2 o’clock. Rev. Powell officiated at the ceremony. Burial was made in the Riverside Cemetery.

Mrs. Edith Munson was born at Kenosha on March 23, 1865. On March 26, 1884, she was united in marriage to S.M. Munson at Salem, Wis. After their marriage they moved to a farm near Salem where they made their home until April 1903, at which time they moved to the present farm northwest of Withee. To this union were born five children.

Mrs. Munson has been in ill health for the past two years but up until two weeks ago she had taken an active part in her household duties. At that time she took a turn for the worse and death came to relieve her suffering on Saturday evening, Oct. 17, 1936. For many years she has taken a very active part in the Community Book Club.

Besides her husband, S.M. Munson, she leaves to mourn her loss, Mrs. W.S. Wood, Lawrence Munson, and S.M. Munson, Jr., of Withee; Edwin Munson of Menomonie; Mrs. Geo. Reese of Marshfield, and Mrs. Lawrence Holmes of Duluth. In addition to these she leaves three sisters, one brother, ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Munson will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her as she was a friend to everyone, always willing to lend a helping hand in case of sickness or wherever she was needed.
