Nichols, Alfred M. (April 19, 1919 - January 17, 2007)

Alfred M. Nichols, age 87, longtime Town of Aurora resident, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2007 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, WI. A Christian Burial Mass was held on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Gilman, WI with Fr. John Long officiating. Burial followed in the parish cemetery. Friends and family called on Friday evening form 4-8 p.m. at the Gilman Funeral Home, with a 7:30 Rosary being recited, and one hour prior to service time the next morning at the funeral home. Plombon Funeral Service assisted the family with arrangements.

Alfred was born April 19, 1919 in Knapp, WI, the son of Frank & Hannah (Klingman) Nichols. As a young boy he moved with his family to the rural Gilman area and grew up there attending area schools. He then stayed on the family farm and was united in marriage to Angeline Willger on June 21, 1941 at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Gilman, WI. They lived and farmed on the Nichols family farm until 1962 when they moved down the road to the Willger family farm and farmed there until retirement. Alfred enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting and also was an avid fan of baseball.

Alfred is survived by his children: Roger (Ronnie) Nichols of Union Grove, WI, Gary (Patti) Nichols of Deer Park, WI, Bonnie (Paul) Johnson of Gilman, WI, Dale (Sue) Nichols of Owen, WI, & Keith (Judy) Nichols of Marshfield, WI; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Lois Willger of Stanley, WI & Margaret Garsow of Eau Claire, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Angeline in June of 2006; two sisters: Mae Kondrasuk & Clara Goebel; and three brothers: Russell, Harry & Charlie Nichols.
