Tuesday afternoon at three o’clock Miss Edna Hansen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.P. Hansen of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), was given in marriage by her father to Hugh F. Gwin of Loyal, son of Mrs. H.J. Gwin of Nekoosa. The ceremony took place in the beautiful garden of Mr. and Mrs. V.A. Hansen at Withee, with Rev. J.A. Holst, pastor of the Danish Lutheran Church, officiating.
The bride wore a long white afternoon gown of mousseline de sole and a white hat and carried an arm bouquet of red roses. She was attended by Miss Ingrid Miller of Pine City, Minn., who wore a pale green chiffon afternoon dress with a corsage of pink roses and a large pink hat. The groom and best man, Melvin Gwin, brother of the groom, wore white suits with red rose boutonnieres. The mother of the bride wore a pink lace dress and the mother of the groom wore a due lace dress.
Miss Rena Bauer of Colby played "Liebestraum" during the ceremony and accompanied Miss Lucille Daily, who sang "Indian Love Call," and Mrs. V.A. Hansen, who sang "Drin To Me Only With Thine Eyes."
Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents. Miss Louise Hansen, sister of the bride, poured at a buffet luncheon, which was served to the many guests. The home was decrated with large baskets of flowers.
The bride attended the University of Minnesota, where she received B.A. and M.A. degrees in speech and English. She has taught school at Loyal, Johnston City, Ill., and Women’s College, New Haven, Conn. She is a member of Delta Sigma Rho and Zeta Phi Eta, national speech sororities, and Phi Chi Delta, national social sorority.
The groom received a Ph. B. degree from Ripon College and an LL. B. from Marquette law school. He is a member of Alpha Phi Omega, social fraternity at Ripon, and the Marquette chapter of Delta Theta Phi, a national legal fraternity. While at law school he was president of his fraternity and associate editor of the Marquette Law Review. Mr. Gwin is now practicing law at Loyal and is president of the Loyal Businessmen’s Association and is an officer of the Clark County Safety Council.
Among the out of town guests were Mrs. H.J. Gwin, Jean Gwin, Melvin Gwin, and F.X. Grode of Nekoosa; Miss Ingrid Miller of Pine City, Minn.; Mrs. C.D. Cannon and Dr. and Mrs. C.J. Ryan of Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Swend Pedersen of Askov, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Emil C. Hansen and Miss S. Osterguard of Minneapolis; Miss Evelyn Pederson of St. Paul; Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Bradbury of Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Paul E. Strand of Racine; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rhyner of Eau Claire; Miss Rena Bauer of Colby.
Attorney and Mrs. Gwin will be at home to their friends in Loyal after August 1.
