Hukari, Joan A. (26 MAR 1949 - 13 JAN 2007)

Joan A. Hukari, 57, San Francisco, Calif., formerly of Greenwood, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2007, at San Francisco General Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., on Sunday, Jan. 28, at Swedenborgian Church, San Francisco. Joan Audrey Meyers was born on March 26, 1949, in Oshkosh. She was raised in Greenwood, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1967. She furthered her education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Worchester College-Oxford, and the university of California Extension-San Francisco. She received a bachelor of arts degree, cum laude, in human resources from Golden Gate University. On April 17, 1971, she married Harvey Harlowe Hukari Jr. at Stanford University Chapel. She served as a human resources professional for a number of nonprofit organizations including the California Culinary Academy, Far West Educational Laboratory, Golman Institute on Aging, and the Oceanic Society.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Harvey Harlowe Hukari Jr.; and will be sadly missed by three sisters, Fern (Dave) Hansen, Greenwood, Cindy (Dave) Esselman, Loyal, and Julie (Scott) Schmidt, Neillsville; six nieces and nephews, Holly (Bob) Dillenbeck, Mosinee, Kim (Brandon) Abel, Eau Claire, Ben Hansen, Eau Claire, Luke Schmidt, Neillsville, Ryan Esselman, Loyal, and Chelsea Schmidt, Neillsville, Wis.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Leneil (Mike) and Lois Meyers.
