Brown, Grace E. (11 MAY 1919 - 24 JAN 2007)

Grace E. Brown, 87, Nekoosa, formerly of Van Buren, Ark., died at her home on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007. There will be no services held. Interment of her cremains will take place in Fort Smith National Cemetery, Fort Smith, Ark. At a later date.

Grace Evelyn Vest was born on May 11, 1919, in Page, W. Va., to Charles Koehn and Pearl Marie Vest. She was raised and received her education in West Virginia. She married Merlin Brown on Oct. 6, 1944, in Willoughy, Ohio. They moved to California in 1960, where she worked at See’s Candies for five years and then at Weiser Lock until retiring in 1981. They moved to Arkansas and resided in the Fort Smith area, where she was a member of the Van Buren Church of the Nazarene. Her husband died on March 15, 1980. She continued to reside in Arkansas until moving to Wisconsin to live with her son in 2000. She had many interests, but especially loved going to church, crocheting, playing the guitar and playing the piano.

Survivors include one son, the Rev. Dr. Rick (Renee) Brown, Nekoosa; one daughter, Joyce Fourman, Uniontown, Ariz.; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Edna Workman, Middletown, Ohio.
