LOYAL -- Janet J. Metcalfe, 67, of Loyal died Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, at the Neillsville Memorial Home after a nine-month battle with lung cancer.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Loyal. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service Wednesday at Cuddie Funeral Home in Loyal.

Janet Jane Wolf was born on Jan. 25, 1940, in the town of Sherman to Frank and Mildred (Foat) Wolf. She was united in marriage to John Albert Castner on May 13, 1961, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Loyal. He died on Jan. 22, 1969. She was married to Stanley Joel Metcalfe on Aug. 7, 1971, in Winona, Minn. Together they started and operated Jan's Upholstery until Stan's retirement. He died Feb. 21, 2004.

She is survived by eight children, Jim (Trisha) Castner of Merrilan; Connie (Wayne) Smith of New Castle, Colo.; Carla Cox of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Kathy (Randall) Schmitz of Loyal; Chris (Roger) Zager of Owen; John (Laurie) Castner of Black River Falls; Amy (Kevin) Clark of Spencer; Lola (Scott) Johnson of Alma Center; 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She is further survived by her 15 brothers and sisters, Norman (Monica) Wolf of Spencer, Virginia (Marlin) Schmitz of Granton, June Marvin of Greenwood, Irene Gardner of Marshfield, Delores (David) Kautzer of Loyal, Mary (Roy) Rasmussen of Greenwood, Arnold (Dolores) Wolf of Chili, Laurette (Denny) Bauer of Spencer, Larry (Jan) Wolf of Ladysmith, Rachelle (Randy) Haslow of Somerset, Clarice (Richard) Clark of Greenwood, Dennis (Gloria) Wolf of Marshfield, Patrick (Doris) Wolf of Stratford, Randal (Rosie) Wolf of Unity and Renee (Rodney) Schoen of Neillsville, Wis.
