Marthea Peterson, born in Olmstead County, Minnesota, on June 15, 1867, was one of five daughters of Guro and John Larson. She grew to womanhood in her home state and then came to Colby, where she was united in marriage to Nels Peter Peterson in 1898. To this union one child was born, John M. Brief private services were held at Colby, preceding services at East St. Olaf’s church in Kasson, Minn., where deceased had been baptized and confirmed. Interment was in the church cemetery, the last rites being carried out according to the wishes of the departed.
She was bed-ridden for the past six months and died of complications of old age. Mr. Peterson passed away on April 18, 1927.
