Blum, Donald Robert (December 10, 1935 - January 22, 2007)
Donald Robert "Don" Blum, age 71, of Rockford, IL, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2007, in Swedish American Hospital.
Donald was born on December 10, 1935, in Gays Mills, WI, the son of Herbert and Martha (Stussey) Blum, Sr. He married Nancy M. Hagen in Black River Falls on July 19, 1958. Don was a test man for Sundstrand Corp for 46 years. He was active in youth sports at Ken-Rock Community Center in Rockford. Don loved coaching softball, basketball and foot-ball. He was the first coach inducted into the Ken-Rock Community Center Hall of Fame. He was also a proud member of UAW Local 592. Don was a Green Bay Packer stockholder and a life-long Packer fan. He served in the U. S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy; son, Jeff (Paula) Blum; daughter, Dawn (Joel) Hill; grandchildren, Brett Hill and Julia Blum, all of Rockford; mother, Martha Blum, of Neillsville; brothers, Herbert (Cielita) Blum, Jr., of Waukesha; Craig (JoAnn) Blum, of Neillsville; and Spencer (Carol) Blum, of St. Paul, MN; sisters, Karen Blum, of Schofield, and Mariann Forsythe, of Lexington, KY; sisters-in-law, Pat (Roger) Shaw, of Oshkosh, and Arlene Mades, of Onalaska; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Herbert Blum, Sr.
His funeral was held on Thursday, January 25, 2007; at the Fitzgerald Mulford Funeral Chapel in Rockford with is brother, Herbert Blum, Jr. officiating. Burial was at the Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery.
