Schmedel, Betty (Marriage - 7 Dec. 1940)

"Hello is that you mother?" came a voice over long distance telephone to the R. E. Schmedel home Saturday. "Please be seated," continued the voice.

"I am seated," answered Mrs. Schmedel.

"Well, this is Betty, I’m married!"

Thus the glad news of the marriage of Miss Betty Schmedel to Robert William Christensen on Saturday, December 7, at Madison, was announced to the home folks.

Mrs. Christensen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Schmedel of this city. She was graduated from the Neillsville High School, where she was an honor student throughout the course. She attended the University of Wisconsin for two years, her work there being followed by a course in the Groves-Barnhart school of business, Madison. She is a young woman of superior intelligence, energetic and charming, and a musician of out-standing talent. She has a position with the New York Life Insurance Company.

The groom has visited in Neillsville on a number of occasions. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Christensen of Necedah. His graduation from the University of Wisconsin, school of economics, took place in 1936. He has been in the employ of the Masonite Corporation since that time.

The couple will make their home in an apartment in the Claridge hotel, Madison.
