One of the twin babies of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Burr has been very sick with pneumonia since last Thursday. The child was taken to the Neillsville Hospital Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. William Schmidtke and daughter, Beverly, Granton, were guests of Dr. and H. W. Housley Sunday.

Miss Ruth Ewert, who has been employed at the AAA office in this city for some time, left last week for Eau Claire where she expects to fine employment.

Miss Betty Zimmerman came Friday from Menomonie to spend the holidays at home.

Mrs. Minnie Christman is spending the holidays with her sons at Withee and Owen, Wis.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Blum drove to Owen Friday to take his nephew and nieces, Carl, Dorothy, Eileen and Lois Tramm there to take the train home to Stanberry. Miss Margaret Tramm, who has been working at Gary, Ind., met them at Owen, also going home to Stanberry for a vacation. Miss Martha Schroeder accompanied them to Owen to visit her aunt, Mrs. Clarence Jarvis, Mrs. William Buschsteiner going as far as Greenwood to visit her husband, who is employed there.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Klein, Jr., and baby of Illinois are spending the holiday with parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Klein.

Marcus Baumann ?? to Menomonie Tuesday to ??? sister, Miss Mildred, who ?? Stout Institute. Miss ?? will be home for the holidays.

Rev. Arthur Laesch, Granton, and Rev. Richard Miller, Medford, and their families were dinner guests at the home of Rev. and Mrs. William A. Baumann and family Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Unger, Mr. and Mrs. John Palmer and Mrs. Louis Kurth drove to Stevens Point Thursday night to attend the annual Christmas concert given by the students of the Central State Teachers College and Musical Directors Norman Knutson and Peter Nicholson. There were a series of Christmas carols played on the marimba and set of chimes, in addition to lovely numbers by the glee clubs, concert orchestra and mixed chorus. The Neillsville visitors were delighted with the performance.

Miss Alice Olson left Sunday for her home at Mukwonago to spend the holidays.

Mr. and Mrs. Bert Wesley and son of Elk Mound will be in Neillsville Christmas to enjoy the day with relatives.

Mrs. Austin Petersen of Whitefish Bay is expected here Wednesday to spend Christmas and the balance of the week with her mother, Mrs. A. C. Martin.

Miss Doris Walther was a dinner guests of the Rev. William A. Baumann family Friday evening, Miss Walther, who teaches St. John’s Lutheran School, is remaining here until Christmas night to assist in the services at St. John’s Church before going to her home at Wisconsin Rapids for the holidays.

Paul Hemp of Rochester, Minn., and Albert Manthel, living at Plainview in that state, arrived Friday to spend the night with his mother, Mrs. Ernest Hemp, and also called on other relatives and friends here and at Globe. They returned home Saturday.

Mrs. Mamie Krejci of Augusta arrived the later part of the week to attend the funeral of Mrs. John Krejci and to spend the holidays with her sister, Mrs. W. H. Hartson, and family. [Note there was an obituary for Mrs. John Krejci in the Clark County Press; dated 26 Dec. 1940; but wasn’t transcribed, as it was cut off.]

A group of children of the Congregational Sunday school went to the Vinton Nursing home Sunday morning to sing for the aged people of the institution and to present them with gifts. The children, with the assistance of their parents and teachers, had prepared boxes of cookies, candy and nuts for the occasion.

Mr. and Mrs. B. C. Swarthout and Mrs. John Neidlein of Spencer drove down Saturday evening for a short visit. They took Ion Neidlein, who works in the Keller Beauty Shoppe, home for a weekend visit.

Miss Betty Casler, student nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital, Madison, arrived Sunday to spend the holiday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Casler, and family.

Miss Doris La Stofka is spending a few days with her parents during the holidays. She is employed at Madison.

Jon Wedekind is visiting among relatives and friends here. He recently completed three years of army service, ranking as a master mechanic. He is having a three months furlough and may apply, his experience in another line of work, although he has the privilege of returning to Rantoul, Ill., within the furlough period.
