Pingel, Ernestine (11 MAY 1859 - 11 JAN 1944)
Mrs. Ernestine Pingel, nee Schild, daughter of Michael and Louise Schild, was born May 11, 1859 in Polasen, Germany. In October 1886, she came to America and lived in Sheboygan.
On Jan. 28, 1888 she was united in marriage to Wm. Pingel who passed away on July 29, 1919. She came to Clark County in February 1894.
She passed away at her home in the Town of Longwood (Clark Co., Wis.) on Jan. 11, 1944, following a short illness. Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 14 at 2 p.m. from the Griebenow Funeral Home in Owen, Wis. Rev. B.M. Fresenborg of Greenwood officiated. During the service Mrs. Fresenborg, Mrs. Otto Horn and Mrs. Theo. Braun sang "Rock of Ages" and "Beyond the Sunset", accompanied by Mrs. John Seibold. She was laid to rest in the Longwood Cemetery.
She is survived by one son, Wm. Pingel at home, three daughters, Mrs. Otto (Marie) Beckman, Thorp; Mrs. Gilbert (Anna) Hardy, Withee; Miss Martha Pingel, Madison. A daughter, Minnie, preceded her in death on April 12, 1926.
The pallbearers were: Sam Hagen, Jos. Mertens, Lynn Hodnett, Hugo Walters, Tony Verkli and Archie Morse.
