Hammer, Martha (Marriage - 17 Jan. 1941)

Robert Eugene Dahnert, Neillsville, and Miss Martha Hammer of Galesville were married at Cincinnati, Ohio, Friday, January 17, according to a telegram received here by his parents.

The young people met while they were attending St. Olaf College at Northfield, where the bride was graduated from the music department in 1940. She had been a guest in the Dahnert home here a number of times.

Mr. Dahnert was graduated from the Neillsville High School in 1936, being salutatorian of his class. He attended St. Olaf College for two years, playing in the St. Olaf College concert band. He completed his course at the Cincinnati College of Music where he was a member of the Cincinnati college Symphony Orchestra, majoring in directing.

To obtain enrollment under Leon Conus at Cincinnati, it was necessary for the young man to play before a board of examers. He was successful in the audition and was awarded at scholarship.

Mr. Dahnert plays a piano and several orchestral instruments exceptionally well. He gave his first piano recital at Eau Claire in 1936. Two years later he gave a recital at St. Olaf College and in 1939 he gave such a musical presentation at the W. J. Landry home in this city.

The couple will be at home at Summit Heights, a suburb of Cincinnati, where the groom conducts the band and orchestra in a large school.
