Handt, Elaine M. (January 25, 1928 - January 31, 2007)
Elaine M. Handt, age 79, died on January 31, 2007, at the Palliative Care Unit of Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.
Elaine was born January 25, 1928, in the Town of Granton, Clark County, to Fred and Emma (Kupke) Scholz. She received her education at the Romadka and Maple Works schools near Granton. Elaine was married on October 29, 1952, at Granton, to Everett Handt. Before marriage Elaine worked for a short time in Chicago. After marriage they farmed at Granton. Elaine was a homemaker and love sewing. In her younger years, she played harmonica and piano. In her golden years, she enjoyed shopping and dining out. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Granton, and resided at Bethel Center in Arpin for the past two years.
Elaine is survived by her children, Tami (Jon) Burnett, of Spencer, and Jeff (Jayne) Handt, of Granton; five grandchildren, Austin and Quentin Burnett, and Erin, Jeffrey, and Leah Handt; sisters, Linda Sweeney, of Phoenix, AZ; Irene (Joseph) Bosch, of Mosinee; and Grace (Bud) Schier, of Marshfield.
She is predeceased by her husband, Everett, on June 23, 1985; two brothers, Bernard and Clarence; and two sisters, Anita Noel and Ardelia Scholz.
Funeral Services were held Friday, February 2, 2007, at the Buchanan Funeral Home Neillsville, with Rev. John Trewyn officiating. Burial was in the Windfall Cemetery, Granton. Pallbearers were Ezra, Randy, and Luke Schier, and Jon, Austin and Quentin Burnett.
Elaine has left lasting memories on all those lives she touched. May she rest forever in peace.
