Knusta, Frank Casimir (October 4, 1918 - February 8, 2007)
Frank C. Knusta, age 88, of Lublin passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2007 at Zastrow Care Center in Gilman, WI.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Thorp Funeral Home Chapel, Thorp, WI with Rev. Ted Wojcik officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Trinity Ukranian Cemetery, rural Lublin. Frank’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers while his granddaughters will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 16, 2007 at the Thorp Funeral Home from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Frank Casimir Knusta was born on October 4, 1918 in Painsdale, MI to Frank and Stella (Wolusius) Knusta, Sr. and was educated at area schools. He was united in marriage to Olga Sawka on September 30, 1939 at the Holy Trinity Ukranian Church (99) in Lublin, WI. Olga passed away just a few weeks short of their 50th Wedding Anniversary in September 1989.
Frank was a dairy farmer all of his adult life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball, and in his later years horseshoes.
He was a working member of the Roosevelt Rod and Gun club for over 50 years and was also a member of the construction Union for 15 years. Frank worked on many area buildings such as the old Stanley Hospital, Cornell High School, Thorp High School, Chippewa Falls High School, Owen-Withee High School, Stanley High School and many other construction projects. He was elected as a member of the Taylor County Board and served for over 10 years. During that time, he also served on many other different boards and committees.
Frank is survived by his children: Frank "Jerry" (Barb) Knusta, Marie (Jim) Welch, and John (Lynn) Knusta; grand-children: Scott Knusta, Brian (Monica) Knusta, Todd (Kathy) Knusta, Lisa (Andy) Evenson, Neva (Shawn Coyle) Van Riper, Dixie (Mark) Martell, Sharie (Jerry) Spies, Jeannie (Eric) Dubberke, Matt (Julia) Welch, Amy (Jerry) Asp, John Welch, and Sam Welch, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Olga; one brother, Walter and one sister, Josephine.
Thorp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
