Metcalfe, Janet J. #2 (25 JAN 1940 - 2 FEB 2007)

Janet J. Metcalfe, 67, Loyal, died peacefully with her family by her side, on Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, at the Neillsville Memorial Home after a nine-month battle with lung cancer, and has been taken home to be with her heavenly Father. Visitation will be held at Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, on Wednesday, Feb. 7, from 4-8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 8, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal. The Rev. Roman Kaiser will officiate. Burial will be held in St. Anthony’s Cemetery at a later date.

Janet Jane Wolf was born on Jan. 25, 1940, in the town of Sherman, to Frank and Mildred (nee Foat) Wolf. She was raised on the family farm, Wolf’s Guernsey Dairy, and received her education at St. Anthony’s Parochial School and attended Loyal High School. After high school, she worked as a nursing assistant at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. She married John Albert Castner on May 13, 1961, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal. He died on Jan. 22, 1969. She married Stanley Joel Metcalfe on Aug. 7, 1971, in Winona, Minn. Together they started and operated Jan’s Upholstery until her husband’s retirement. He died on Feb. 21, 2004. Most recently she remained active with crocheting rugs and doilies.

She will be sadly missed by her eight children, Jim (Trisha) Castner, Merrillan, Connie (Wayne) Smith, New Castle, Colo., Carla Cox, Colorado Springs, Colo., Kathy (Randall) Schmitz, Loyal, Chris (Roger) Zager, Owen, John (Laurie) Castner, Black River Falls, Amy (Kevin) Clark, Spencer, and Lola (Scott) Johnson, Alma Center; 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 15 brothers and sisters, Norman (Monica) Wolf, Spencer, Virginia (Marlin) Schmitz, Granton, June Marvin, Greenwood, Irene Gardner, Marshfield. Delores (David) Kautzer, Loyal, Mary (Roy) Rasmussen, Greenwood, Arnold (Delores) Wolf, Chili, Laurette (Denny) Bauer, Spencer, Larry (Janet) Wolf, Ladysmith, Rachelle (Rudy) Haslow, Somerset, Clarice (Richard) Clark Greenwood, Dennis (Gloria) Wolf, Marshfield, Patrick (Doris) Wolf, Stratford, Randal (Rosie) Wolf, Unity, and Renee (Rodney) Schoen, Neillsville; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husbands; and two brothers-in-law, Kenny Marvin and Merlin Gardner.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, is assisting the family with arrangements.
