COLBY -- Lorraine R. (Wolk) Beyerl, 80, Colby, died Sunday, March 4, 2007, at Three Oaks Living Center, Marshfield.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at First United Church of Christ, Colby. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Colby. The Rev. Kenneth A. Dix will officiate. Lorraine's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Maurina Funeral Home, Abbotsford, and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.

Lorraine Rose Wolk was born Sept. 4, 1926, in Colby, the daughter of Emil and Hertha (Sachse) Wolk. Lorraine and Aloysius "Al" Beyerl were married June 4, 1947, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Colby. He died Nov. 19, 1985.

Lorraine was employed as a cook at Medo Farms Restaurant in Abbotsford, Wis. She also worked at the Montgomery Wards Store and DHIA in Colby. Lorraine also served as a CNA at the Colonial Center in Colby. Lorraine and Al and the Beyerl family farmed in the town of Colby.

Lorraine was an active member of the community, serving with the Colby Lioness Club, Rural Arts Museum Historical Society, the Colby Library Board, fourth ward alderperson, a longtime member of the Sandhill Homemakers and a 4-H leader. She was also a member of First United Church of Christ and the Women's Guild and many other volunteer positions.

Lorraine will be dearly missed by her family, her children, Alice (Bruce) Sturzl of Laona, Sandy Beyerl of Marion, Grace (Ken) Wiitala of Auburndale, Ken (Chris) Beyerl of Clara City, Minn., Edward (Linda) Beyerl of Medford and Steve (Megan) Beyerl of Richfield, Minn.; 12 grandchildren, David (Angie) Beyerl, Brian (Randi) Beyerl, Tina (friend Dean Tautges) Beyerl, Jesse (Stacy) Beyerl, Tonya (Tom) Dommer, Alyssa Wiitala, Rosita Beyerl, Aaron Beyerl, Jason (Janet Fischer) Beyerl, Ronda (John) Czerwonka, Brittany Wiitala and Nate Beyerl; five stepgrandchildren, Bruce Sturzl Jr., Dan (Peg) Sturzl, Scott Sturzl, Ann Sturzl and Tim (Donna) Sturzl; eight great-grandchildren and six step great-grandchildren; and one sister, Joanne (Emery) Rahm of Colby.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, David; one grandson, Dominic; a stepgrandson, Todd Sturzl; and one brother, Robert.

Memorials may be given in Lorraine's name, and the family will designate them at a later date.
