Lydia Green Short Haner, born 26 Dec 1833, was the daughter of Smith Green, Sr and his 2nd wife Mary Helford. The family lived in Middletown, Delaware Co., NY according to the 1830-1860 census records.
Lydia's half siblings (mother Sarah Mellor) were: Cynthia c1814; Anson 22 Dec 1816 married Esther Anderson, lived Clark Co, WI; Marcus c1820; Edna c1823; Smith Jr. c1824.
Lydia's full siblings (mother Mary Helford) were: Landa c1836; Wallace c1838; Abrigal c1842 married Tom Welch in Clark Co., WI both buried Spencer Cemetery, Marathon Co., WI; Alexander c1844.
Lydia first married Washington Short on 14 April 1855 in Franklin Dale, Bradford Co., Penn. Washington Short was born 14 Sept 1822 in Woodstock, Ulster Co., NY. His parents were Peter and Polly Winne Short. Washington Short enlisted on 4 Jan 1864 in the 14th WI Volunteer Reg. Washington Short died on 19 June 1864 at the Adams Hosp in Memphis, TN of disease. He is buried at the Mississippi River National Cemetery, sec c #331.
The widow Lydia Green Short next married George Haner on 10 Mar 1869 in Neillsville, Clark Co., WI. George Haner, born c1843 in Illinois was the son of Horace & Nancy Haner. George and Lydia Green Short Haner were divorced on 13 Oct 1886 in Stevens Point, WI. George Haner, who had married again, died 7 Sept 1905 in Chipley,FL.
