Sturner, Lydia (6 NOV 1895 - 12 AUG 1930)

Mrs. Emil Sturner died at the hospital at Madison, Tuesday, Aug. 12th, 1930, after an illness of 5 months following an operation for appendicitis. The body was taken to their home at Lowell and the funeral held Thursday afternoon from the Reformed Church and burial was in the Lowell Cemetery.

Lydia Lapp, the third child of Mr. and Mrs. J. Lapp, was born at their farm home between Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.) and Curtiss and had she lived until Nov. 6 would have been 35 years old.

She was educated in the country school and then came to Dorchester for the first two years of high school and as Dorchester had only the two years, she finished at Medford. She was a bright-eyed, keen minded student, a jolly girl and a friends anyone could be proud of and as she grew into young womanhood she kept all her loveable, girlish qualities and added to them womanliness of the highest type.

About 15 years ago she married Emil Sturner, a splendid young man with the same sterling qualities she had, and they lived on the Lapp farm until Emil went to Lowell to take over the Hardware Store there. Three children were born to them, Audrey 14, Clyde 12 and Phyllis May, age 2, who with their father are left to mourn her early demise.

Why one so young and much needed should be taken we do not know, but this we do know, if we but trust Him, the Father can take the broken threads in His hands and weave into our lives a pattern beautiful beyond belief that will show clearly in that day when all tears shall be wiped away.

Besides her husband and children, she leaves her mother, Mrs. Lapp of this village, 1 brother, Wallace of Fifield, 3 sisters, Edith, Mrs. John Sturner of Ladysmith, Verna of Antigo, and Vera, who lives with her mother, all of whom were present at the funeral.
