Rudolph Zeller was born at Berschis M Kurfirstenkette, Switzerland, on Aug. 24, 1855. His home was in that city until 1883, when he came to America. He worked as helper in a cheese factory in Green county, this state, for a few years, then he went on his own account as cheese maker at Monticello.
In the year 1887, he was united in marriage to Mary Eberly, and they lived in the southern part of the state for five years. Then he bought a farm north of Humbird, and lived there for twenty-four years. His wife died in 1913. To this union where born twelve children, Rudolph, Arnold, Joseph, Kate and Anna preceded him in death.
He was married again in 1915 to Hattie Kurtz, and to this union were born four children, two of whom preceded him in death.
He sold his farm and moved to Fairchild, where he resided several years. The last two years he lived at an old peoples’ home in Milwaukee, where he died Jan. 1, of pneumonia, at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 6 days.
He is survived by his second wife and nine children: Mrs. John Cole and Henry, of Humbird, Adolph and William, of Milwaukee, Fred, of Omaha, John and Tillie, of Chicago, Alvis and Frank, of LaCrosse.
Funeral Services were held in Milwaukee Monday, Jan. 4, and burial was in that city.
