Murry, Matilda (27 SEP 1847 - 2 MAR 1937)

Mrs. Matilda Sires Murry died at the home of Mrs. Jennie Vinton, in this village, at six o’clock Tuesday evening, March 2, 1937, at the age of 90 years, 5 months and 5 days. She was born in Logansport, Ind., Sept 27, 1847. She was married to Wm. Byron in Michigan, and later moved to Garden Valley, where her parents located on a farm, being among the early settlers in that part. To them were born three children, Wm. J Byron, of Eveleth, Minn., Mrs. Delia Sommers, of Chebalis, Wash., who survive. One daughter, Bella, who died when a young girl. Mr. Byron preceded her in death many years ago.

She moved with her parents to the Hunters’ home, where they were several years. Later she was married to D. Murry, and they made their home in Humbird. Mr. Murry preceded her several years ago. One son was born to them, who was an invalid, and died about twenty-seven years ago at the age of 22 years.

She leaves to mourn her death besides her son and daughter, three brothers, Jerry Sires and John Sires, both of Montana, and Orley Sires, of Belleville, New Jersey, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held from the Free Methodist church Friday afternoon, Rev. A. E. Knaak preaching the sermon. Burial was in Mentor Cemetery.
