Schmidt, August C. (23 JUN 1855 - 28 DEC 1930)
August C. Schmidt was born in the Province of Posen, Germany, on June 23rd, 1855 and died on Sunday, Dec. 28th, 1930, at 11:05 a.m. At 17 years of age he left his fatherland for America, settling in St. Louis, Mo. On the 31st day of March, he was united to Miss Augusta Schewe. Later he moved with his wife to Elk Grove, Ill., and from there they came to Wisconsin and took up farming in the town of Little Black, Taylor Co., at which place he lived till the time of his death.
Funeral services are being held in the Evangelical Peace Church this afternoon at 2:15 o’clock with the Rev. J.R. Kalwitz officiating. Interment will be made in the Dorchester Evangelical Cemetery (Memorial North).
The deceased is mourned by his wife; one son, Fred A. of Little Black township; two daughters, Mrs. Martha Small and Mrs. Minnie Miller, also of the town of Little Black, and two grandchildren, Charlotte Klabunde and Louise Small.
Mr. Schmidt is another of those who helped to make this country bud and blossom and yield her fruit for us all and thus has rendered to mankind a great service and the best we can wish is that his life may live on in the lives of those who loved him best.
