Taylor, George Washington (1848 - 5 Jan. 1938)

George Washington Taylor, son of Nehemiah and Lucy Taylor, was born in Sandusky, Ohio, in 1848. He came to Sauk County with his parents at the age of seven years, they going from there to Loyal, where he spent his early manhood. When he was twenty-seven years of age, he came to Humbird, and on Oct. 2, 1875, he was united in marriage to Miss Nancy Young, who preceded him in death Nov. 30, 1931.

To this union were born six children, three of whom have passed away.

Mr. Taylor and family resided in this vicinity until the death of his wife. He made his home for a short while with his daughter, Mrs. Jennings, and then went to live with his son, Asa, at Dancy, where he had been for the past few years.

He passed Jan. 5, 1938, at the age of 89 years, 10 months and 29 days. He is survived by three children, Asa, of Dancy, Mrs. Elizabeth Washburn, of the town of Hewett, and Mrs. Margaret Jennings, living east of Humbird. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Dancy and the remains were brought to Mentor cemetery for burial last Saturday afternoon.
