Wold, Ella Fidelia (18 Oct. 1905 - 13 Jan. 1938)

Ella Fidelia, older daughter of Charles and Viola Wolbert Shatswell, was born on the farm in Houghtonburg, Oct. 18, 1905. Her girlhood and young womanhood was spent with her parents on the farm. She attended school in Houghtonburg, and also Humbird high school, graduating with the class of 1922. After graduating here she attended teacher’s summer school and taught for a few terms in the rural schools nearby. On June 7, 1924, she was united in marriage with Mr. William Wold, and since that time her home has been mostly at Eau Claire, where her husband had been employed. Her mother was called to the Eternal Home on Aug. 25, 1923.

Mrs. Wold entered the Luther Hospital in Eau Claire and underwent a major operation on New Years Day. She passed away at the hospital Jan. 13, 1938, at the age of 33 years, 2 months and 26 days.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 1:00 p.m., at the Lenmark funeral home in Eau Claire, Rev. S. C. Eastvold of First Lutheran Church officiating. The cortege arrived here at 3:00 o’clock, and services were held at the M. E. church, many friends attending, Rev. F. A. Fahlgren officiated. Burial was in the family lot in Houghtonburg Cemetery.

Relatives and friends coming from away to attend the services were: Mr. and Mrs. J. Golden, Mrs. Henry Wold, Mr. and I. P. Burseth, Mr. and Mrs. Val Manthei, Mrs. Geo. Rogers, Mrs. Daisy Moorehouse, Mrs. Wm. Anderson, Mrs. Art Wendt, Mr. and Mrs. Orland Stiff, Mrs. Alice Nelson, Mrs. Ed. Newman, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Harris, Altoona; Mr. and Mrs. Brownell, Mondovi; Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Cummings, Chetek; Wm. Funk, Amber Funk, Augusta; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Gower, Irwin Gower, Granton.

She leaves to mourn her death her husband, two sons, William, aged 7, and Gerald age 5, and one daughter, Sandra, age 1 year and 10 months; her father Charles Shatswell, of Houghtonburg; two brothers, Frederic of Oak Park, Ill., and Lowell at home; and one sister, Kathleen (Mrs. James Donaldson) of Eau Claire; besides numerous other relatives and many friends.
