Boardman, Constance "Connie" Theresa (June 22, 1923 - February 28, 2007)
Constance "Connie" T. Boardman, age 83, of Thorp, died at Oakbrook Health & Rehab, in Thorp, on Wednesday, February 28, 2007.
A memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church, in Thorp, with Fr. Keith Apfelbeck officiating. Inurnment will take place in New St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Visitation was held at the church, on Wednesday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
Constance Theresa O’Connor was born on June 22, 1923 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia to Cornelius and Olive (Gallagher) O’Connor. She was raised and educated in Brisbane, graduating from Sacred Heart High School, and then attended St. Anne’s School for two years. Connie was united in marriage to Melvin "Jack" Boardman on August 22, 1944 at Sacred Heart Church in Brisbane. They moved to Thorp in 1946, and raised a family of eight children. Her husband died on January 17, 1987. Connie traveled extensively before and after the death of her husband. She was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church.
She is survived by seven children: Terry (Jane) of Greenville, NC; John "Bob" (Sheila) of DePere, WI; Dan (Glenna) of Rhinelander, WI; Tom of Tokyo, Japan; Ellie (Dean) Swengston of Andover, MN; Ken (Jeanne) of Buffalo, MN; and Gwen "Gigi" Beeley of Tomahawk, WI; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister: Ellen "Nell" (Bill) Ries of Brisbane, Australia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Philip on February 27, 1962, and one brother, Bernard O’Connor.
Thorp funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
