Sliwka, Rose (November 25, 1917 - March 2, 2007)

Rose Sliwka, age 89, formerly of the Town of Thorp, WI passed away peacefully on March 2, 2007 in Hartford, WI.

A Christian Burial Mass was held on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, Stanley, WI with Fr. Robert Nelson officiating. Burial followed in the parish cemetery. Friends and family called one hour prior to service time at the church on Tuesday. Plombon Funeral Service assisted the family with arrangements.

Rose was born November 25, 1917 in the Town of Thorp, WI the daughter of Jon and Mary (Leja) Slowiak. She grew up in the Town of Thorp and attended area rural schools. On December 26, 1942 she was united in marriage to Alex Sliwka. They lived in Milwaukee, WI until 1949 when they moved back to the Town of Thorp where they lived and farmed until 2001 when they then moved to the City of Stanley. In 2004 they moved to Menomonee Falls, WI and then recently to Hartford, WI to be near her family.

Rose is survived by her children: Richard (Carol Ann) Sliwka of Warrensburg, MO, Kathleen Gutsch of Germantown, WI, Kenneth (Sharon) Sliwka of DePere, WI; grandchildren: Kristen, Cheryl and Steven, great-grandchildren: Barrie, Dacey, and Caleb; two brothers: Julian (Delores) Slowiak of Cadott, WI and Joseph (Claudette) Slowiak of Phoenix, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alex in 2005, and seven brothers and sisters.

Rose had a great love for her family, enjoying her grand and great-grandchildren and took great joy in cooking for them.
