Esther E. Bass

GRANTON -- Esther Bass, age 92, of Granton, died Monday, March 19, 2007, at the Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville, Wis.

Funeral services for Esther will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 23, 2007, at the Zion American Lutheran Church in Granton. The Rev. Keith Lueneburg will officiate. Providing music will be Marjorie Dahl, organist.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to service time Friday, prior to the service.

Serving as casket bearers will be David Hillert, Bradley Zipfel, Roger Nitschke, Warren Anding, William Schlinsog and Roger Tyler.

Esther was born on Jan. 27, 1915, in the town of Grant, the daughter of Paul and Amalie (Hillert) Roder. She received her education in the town of Grant Roder School. After her schooling she lived at her parents' farm and also worked in Neillsville doing housework.

She married Leland Bass Sept. 14, 1938, in Granton. He died Sept. 19, 1992. After her marriage, she and her husband farmed in the town of Lynn for many years. When they retired, their son, Keith, took over the farm.

She was a member of Zion American Lutheran Church and its former Ladies' Aid and she was a member of South Lynn Birthday Club.

Esther enjoyed growing vegetables and flowers and spending time with her close friends and family.

Esther is survived by one son, Keith (Mary) Bass of Granton; three granddaughters, Michele (Gordon) Rundle Jr., Katie and Laura; two great-grandchildren, Gordon III and Emily; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother, Walter Roder; a sister, Edna Bresenan; and an infant brother and sister.

The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Esther's family with funeral arrangements.
