Local Happenings

Geo. Mueller has been under the doctor’s care of late for a trouble with one of his knees.

Rev. V. D. Weidler attended the Wausau regional conference of the Evangelical church at Wisconsin Rapid’s Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hart, of Mondovi, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Bollom, of Neillsville, were dinner guests of Mrs. Mina Cole Easter Sunday.

Fred Trachsel made a trip to B. R. Falls last Friday.

Mrs. Fowler and Miss Alice went to Minneapolis last Wednesday to make a visit with Mrs. Gladys Fowler and daughters.

A son was born to Mr..and Mrs. Raymond Woodford, April 12.

B. J. Stallard has been at his office this week, after being confined to his home several weeks by illness.

Fred Trachsel has a new Cheford tractor for use on his farm. The Smith and Nibbe families are enjoying new cars, reported.

Mrs. A. L. Sparkes was quite ill and under the doctor’s first of the week.

Will Ringrose, newly elected chairman of the town of Garden Valley, was a caller at this office one day first of the week.

Mrs. Ella Barnes moved Tuesday from the Laas house to Mrs. W. M. Rosolack’s house. The house has been remodeled and the interior will be painted as soon as weather conditions permit.

Rudolph Lund, of Wrightville, spent Sunday afternoon with his brother Maholn and family.

John Stallard came from Eau Claire to spend Sunday with his father.

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Elgin Stallard, at the Lutheran Hospital in Eau Claire, Sunday, April 9th.

Mrs. Thos. McCready was called to Chicago Saturday evening on account of the illness of her son Carl.

Special item from our friends in California and Florida; Ground was covered with snow Wednesday morning. Mercury at 16. Aged Tomahawk lady perished from the cold Saturday night.

G. N. Crandell and wife, of Black River Falls, and E. A. Langworthy and wife, of Hixton, spent Sunday afternoon at the Chambers home.

Mrs. V. D. Weidler and children are making a few weeks visit with her sisters, Mrs. J. M. Michael at Clay City, Ind., and Mrs. Adolph Weilder at Decatur.

The hearse of a funeral cortege from Greenwood enroute to Alma Center broke down as they were passing here Tuesday. M. Kretschmer’s hearse was used fro the last of the journey.

Leon Phillips and family have moved into the Gloden House.

Miss Dorothy and Franklin Stuve, who are attending college in Eau Claire, were home for the Easter Vacation.

Herb Greene has bought E. W. Johnson’s property in the village, just vacated by Leon Phillips, and will occupy it at once.

Constance Joan Duchow and Donald and Dale Olson received the ordinance of baptism at the Easter service at the Methodist church Sunday morning.

Chas. Buccholz enters the hospital at Marshfield this Thursday for an operation on one of his eyes. Dr. Schwarz took him to the hospital.

John Stuve has secured a position as caretaker of one of the northern lake resorts, starting last Monday.

Miss Caryl Short was home from Appleton over the Easter weekend, and Donald Sherwood and family were down from Eau Claire for Sunday at the Short home.

Mrs. Noyes, Mrs. Cole and Mrs. E. K. Noyes were at Black River Falls last Saturday.

Friends of Miss Dorothy Canfield have received notice of her recent marriage to Edwin Withrow. They will reside at Tillamook, Ore.

Ben Blum and family, of Eau Claire, spent last Thursday with Mrs. Blum’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Miller.
