Packard, Douglas Earl (30 AUG 1879 - 7 JUL 1932)

News of the death of Earl Packard came as a shock to many friends here when it was learned he passed away at the Veteran’s Administration at Milwaukee on July 7th, 1932. Funeral services were held the following Sunday from the house at Abbotsford and from the Congregational Church at Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.), with Rev. Powell, Oven, officiating. The American Legion Post of Abbotsford acted as military escort and interment was made at the Pink Hill Cemetery at Curtiss, Wis.

Douglas Earl Packard was born in Holway on Aug. 30, 1879 and he passed away at the age of 52 years, 1 month and 8 days. He grew to manhood in Holway and lived there until 1927, when he moved to Abbotsford where he had since resided. In April 1918 he enlisted in the 47th Company of the 20th Engineer Corps and went to France, from which company he received his discharge in July 1919.

He leaves his wife, Elizabeth, and stepson, James, and four sisters, Mrs. Eleanor Folmer, Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Daisy Marcott, Mrs. A. Davis, and Miss Marion Gwin, all of Holway, to mourn his loss. The many friends in and around Dorchester join us in offering sincerest sympathy to the bereaved ones.
