Emer, Josephine (30 Nov. 1864 - 25 Jan. 1940)
Mrs. Josephine Emer passed to the Great Beyond from her home in Fairview on January 25, after a long illness of paralysis, being confined to her bed for many weeks.
The death of Mrs. Emer takes another old settler from the Fairview vicinity, where she came as a bride nearly fifty years ago. She had attained the age of 75 years, 1 month and 25 days.
Josephine Schroth was born in Hessen, Germany, Nov. 30, 1864. She grew to young womanhood at the place of her birth, and came to America in the year 1887.
On May 17, 1892, Miss Josephine Schroth and Mr. Frank L. Emer were united in holy bonds of wedlock at St. Joseph’s Catholic church at Fairview, and started housekeeping on the farm which has ever since been her home. To this union seven children were born, two daughters and five sons. One son, Anton, died in 1916, at the age of 23 years. The daughters and sons who are mourning the death of their beloved mother at this time are: Lawrence, of Fairview; Mrs. Albert (Barbara) Raschke, Stratford; Frank Jr., Fairview; Andrew, Milwaukee; Joseph, of St. Paul. She leaves eleven grandchildren.
Mrs. Emer is survived by one brother, Carl Schroth, and one sister, Miss Catherine Schroth, both now residing at Alma Center.
The husband and father passed away on Feb. 10, 1926.
Funeral services were held in St. Joseph’s Church Monday forenoon, Jan. 29, Rev. J. J. Sheridan officiating, assisted by Rev. R. Raschke, Rev. N. Thomas and Rev. A. Frisch. Burial was in the cemetery at the church. Pallbearers were her four sons and Albert and Nick Raschke.
